How to Track Discord Invites with Invite Tracking

See who invited how many members to your Discord server: real, fake and left invites with a leaderboard.

Updated: 14 October 2026

Who brings new members, and do they stay? Invite Tracking attributes every join to the inviting person and separates real from fake and left invites. The result is a leaderboard.

Quick answer: Recording runs automatically in the bot. In the dashboard under Invite Tracking you see numbers and the leaderboard, and in the server anyone can check their own count with /invites.

How the attribution works

Discord does not report which invite was used when someone joins. Kage therefore compares the usage counts of all invite links of the server before and after the join. One-time invites that disappear through the join are attributed too. This method comes with some conditions:

  • The bot needs the "Manage Server" permission to read invites. Without it, tracking stays off.
  • Right after a bot restart it first has to read in the invites. The very first join during that time cannot be attributed.
  • Joins that do not go through a normal invite (for example through a vanity URL) cannot be attributed to a person.

The attribution is therefore a good approximation, not conclusive proof.

Real, fake, left

  • Real: the member joined through the person, the account is not suspicious and the member is still on the server.
  • Fake: the account is younger than the configured minimum account age (default 7 days), or the person had already been on the server and joined again.
  • Left: a real member who has left the server again.
  • Net counts the real invites that are still on the server.

You set the minimum account age in the Referral System module or with /referral settings. It also applies to tracking.

Viewing it

  • In the dashboard the Invite Tracking module shows the figures Real invites, Fake, Left and Total joins plus the Top inviters with "real · fake · left" and the net value. As long as there is no data, it says that the bot records every join from now on.
  • In Discord /invites shows a person's count (yourself if none is given) and /invites-leaderboard shows the ten best inviters by net invites. People without net invites do not appear.

Tips

  • Every person who promotes creates their own invite link. The statistic belongs to the person who created the link.
  • Switch it on early. There are no retroactive numbers; recording starts from the moment the bot is on the server.
  • Combine with rewards: whoever brings many real invites can get roles or XP for it: Referral System.
  • Mind privacy. It is stored who invited whom. Mention that in your rules.

If it does not work

  • No invites appear. Does the bot have "Manage Server"? Only joins after recording started count.
  • A join is not attributed to anyone. See the limits above (vanity URL, restart).
  • Many "fake". The minimum account age is set too high, or many newcomers are re-joins.

Works well with

The server analytics additionally show how many members join and how active they are. The welcome message greets newcomers right after they join.

FAQ

Does everyone see who invited whom?

/invites shows a person's numbers in the channel, not the list of those invited. The detailed view in the dashboard is for people with access to the module.

Does this work without the module?

Recording runs in the bot automatically. The evaluation in the dashboard belongs to the module.
