How to Post Reddit Posts to Discord

Post new posts of a subreddit to a Discord channel automatically: build the feed address, choose a channel, adjust the template.

Updated: 13 October 2026

Your game, your community or your topic has a subreddit, and you want to see new posts directly in Discord? The Reddit entry of Social Alerts posts new posts of a subreddit automatically.

Quick answer: In the dashboard under Social Alerts open Reddit, enter the subreddit feed URL (https://www.reddit.com/r/NAME/.rss), choose a channel and click Add.

Setting it up

  1. Open Social Alerts › Reddit and use the Add creator form.
  2. Build the subreddit feed URL: the address of the subreddit with .rss at the end, for example https://www.reddit.com/r/discordapp/.rss. The display name is taken from the address automatically as r/name.
  3. Choose the channel where it is announced.
  4. Optional: a role that is pinged with every announcement (otherwise No mention).
  5. Adjust the message template. Available are {creator}, {title} (the post title), {url} and {platform}.
  6. Click Add.

Example template: 🟠 New in {creator}: {title} {url}

To check, open the feed address in a browser: you should see a text list of the latest posts.

How the announcement behaves

  • Kage checks about every five minutes.
  • On the first check after adding, the current newest post is only remembered, not announced.
  • Kage looks at the newest post each time. In a very active subreddit several posts often appear between two checks, and then only the newest is announced. For very active subreddits the channel is therefore more of a sample than a complete list.

Tips

  • A separate channel such as #reddit keeps it out of the main chat.
  • No role ping for active subreddits, otherwise it rings constantly.
  • Private or banned subreddits have no public feed and do not work.

If it does not work

  • Nothing arrives. Is the address correct, and does it end in .rss? Did a new post appear after adding? An administrator can have all entries checked immediately with /social test.
  • The bot does not post. Check the permissions in the target channel. Monitoring reports missing permissions.
  • The limit is reached. The number of entries per platform depends on the plan.

FAQ

Can I add several subreddits?

Yes, each subreddit is its own entry.

Is there another way than the feed?

For arbitrary feeds use the RSS entry. The Reddit entry is meant for subreddits and takes the name over automatically.
