Connect Social Media to Discord: Announce New Content

Connect YouTube, Twitch, Kick, RSS, podcasts, Reddit and Bluesky to Discord and announce new content automatically in the right channel.

Updated: 13 October 2026

Anyone who publishes videos, streams or posts wants the community to notice without pasting a link by hand every time. That is what Social Alerts are for: Kage checks the saved sources regularly and announces new content in a Discord channel.

Which platforms are there?

Each platform has its own page in the dashboard under the Social Alerts category:

Other platforms are not supported at the moment. Anything that offers an RSS feed works through the RSS entry.

Two ways for Twitch and YouTube live

For livestreams there are two ways that should not be mixed up:

  • Fixed list (Social Alerts): you enter individual channels and Kage polls them regularly. This works regardless of whether the people are on your server.
  • Automatic detection (Streamer Detection): you only set a role and a channel. Kage detects through Discord itself when a member with that role goes live, provided the member has connected their account in Discord. More: Detect live streams automatically.

How Social Alerts work

  • Kage checks all sources in the background about every five minutes. An announcement therefore does not arrive to the second but with a short delay.
  • Per source you set the channel, optionally a role to mention and a message template. Placeholders such as {creator}, {title}, {url} and {platform} are filled in by Kage.
  • On the first check after you add a source, the current latest item is only remembered and not announced. Only new content afterwards triggers a message.
  • Each source applies to one channel. The same source for two channels is a second entry.

What Discord offers natively

Discord links accounts (Twitch, YouTube and others) to the profile and shows "Streaming" in the status. Announcing new videos, podcast episodes or posts in a server channel does not exist natively.

Recommendations

  • A separate channel per type of content, for example #live for streams and #videos for uploads. That lets members mute selectively.
  • Ping roles sparingly. A ping on every post is annoying. Offer the role for voluntary subscription, for example via self-assignable roles.
  • Test. An administrator can have all sources of the server checked right away with /social test.
