Bot Identity: Bot Name, Style and Branding
What Kage's bot identity can do: change the bot's name on your server and store style, embed colours, logo, language and default channels. With a note on what already takes effect today.
Last checked for accuracy: 14 October 2026
The bot identity (called "Bot Personalizer" in the dashboard) bundles how Kage should appear on your server: the name, a response style, embed colours, logo and banner, the language and default channels.
Important upfront: today only the bot name takes effect. Kage saves all other values, but no module reads them yet. They are meant as shared defaults for future features.
Requirements
- Access to the module: You sign in to the dashboard with Discord and need the Manage Server permission (or access granted for this module).
- For the bot name: You need the full Manage Server permission. A person who was only invited for individual modules may not change the name. Kage needs the permission to change its own nickname.
- Plan: The plan notice at the top of this page shows which plan the module needs.
Bot name on this server
Under Bot name on this server, you give Kage a server nickname of at most 32 characters. It only applies on this server, the bot's global name stays the same. With Save next to the field it takes effect immediately, independent of the large save button at the bottom of the page. If you leave the field empty and save, Kage resets the nickname.
If Kage lacks the permission, the dashboard reports that "Manage Nicknames" is missing. The change appears in the Logs tab.
Further settings (no effect yet)
| Area | Fields |
|---|---|
| Response style | Tone (Friendly, Formal, Playful, Concise) and greeting style (Standard, Minimal, Enthusiastic) |
| Branding | Default embed color, Secondary color, Logo and Banner (PNG, JPEG, WEBP or GIF, at most 8 MB) |
| Language and notifications | Preferred language (German or English), Notification style (Embed or Text only) |
| Default channels | Default announcement channel, Default log channel |
The page itself points this out: the response style will apply to new modules such as a help center or AI features, the language only takes effect once the dashboard is multilingual, and the default channels are a fallback for new modules without a channel setting of their own. The colours are not the dashboard's accent colour and do not change embeds of existing modules such as Welcome or Announcements.
Personalizer settings active switches these stored values on or off. The bot name is independent of it.
Settings at a glance

Checking the result
- Set the name: Enter a name and click Save next to the field.
- Check: In your server's member list, Kage now has that name.
- Reset: Empty the field and save. Kage carries its normal name again.
Troubleshooting
"Nickname may be at most 32 characters long"
Shorten the name. That is a Discord limit.
"The bot lacks the Manage Nicknames permission"
Give Kage's role on the server the needed permission and save again.
The colours change nothing in my embeds
The colours are defaults for future features. Existing modules keep their own settings, for example the colour of an embed in the Embeds.
I may not change the name
You only have access to individual modules. The bot name requires the full Manage Server permission.
