AI FAQ: Answer Questions with /ask from Your Entries
How Kage's AI FAQ answers questions by command based on your FAQ entries: setup, limits, public answers, daily budget, data privacy and troubleshooting.
Last checked for accuracy: 14 October 2026
With the AI FAQ, members ask a question with the command /ask (/frage in German), and the AI answers exclusively based on the FAQ entries you stored. It is not supposed to invent anything: if the answer is not in your entries, it says so and refers to the server team. That saves you recurring support questions.
What applies to all AI features (switch, daily budget, data privacy) is in AI features.
Requirements
- Access to the module: You sign in to the dashboard with Discord and need the Manage Server permission (or access granted for this module).
- AI features active under AI Controls, and an AI provider set up by the operator.
- Kage's permissions in the channel: View Channel and Send Messages, Embed Links for the answer card.
- Plan: The AI features are an add-on product, the plan notice at the top shows the status.
Setting up
- In the dashboard, open AI FAQ.
- Create question-and-answer pairs with + Add entry.
- Turn on /ask active and save. At least one entry is needed to activate.
The page limits your input:
| Limit | Value |
|---|---|
| FAQ entries per server | 50 |
| Length of an answer | 1000 characters |
Each entry needs a question and an answer. The page reports entries where one is missing.
How a question works
- A member enters
/ask question:<text>. The question is shortened to 500 characters. - Kage checks the main switch, the AI FAQ switch, whether entries exist and whether the daily budget still suffices. Each question uses one call.
- The AI gets all your FAQ entries as its knowledge base and the instruction to answer only from them, to invent nothing and, if the answer is missing, to refer to the server team. It answers briefly, in a friendly way and in German.
- Kage posts the answer publicly as a card in the channel, with the question as the title. That way other members with the same question see the answer too. The member additionally gets a private confirmation.
The answer is at most 1800 characters long. Status messages (not set up, no FAQ, budget used up, AI unreachable) are only seen by the member who asked.
Settings at a glance
| Dashboard field | Meaning | Default |
|---|---|---|
| /ask active | Turns the feature on | off |
| FAQ entries | Question and answer | empty |
Each answered question appears in the module's Logs tab.
Tips for good entries
- Write answers completely. The AI only uses what is written there.
- Phrase questions the way members would ask them.
- If information changes, adjust the entry. The AI knows nothing else.
Checking the result
- Create an entry: Question "When is the event?", answer "Every Friday at 8 pm."
- Ask: Enter
/ask question:When does the event take place?. - Answer: A card with "Every Friday at 8 pm" appears in the channel.
- Control test: Ask something that is not in the entries. The AI refers to the server team.
Troubleshooting
"The AI FAQ bot is not set up on this server"
Turn on AI features and /ask active.
"No FAQ has been stored for this server yet"
Create at least one entry.
"Today's AI budget of this server is used up"
Raise the daily budget under AI Controls or wait for the next UTC day.
"Cannot answer this question by AI right now"
The AI provider is currently unreachable or not set up. Try again later.
The answer does not appear in the channel
Kage may not write there. In that case the member gets the answer privately.
