Dashboard Basics: Connect a Server, Find Modules, Save
How to connect your server to the Kage dashboard: pick and switch servers, check active modules, save, turn modules off and on, find missing settings and report bugs.

The dashboard is Kage's control centre: this is where you set what the bot should do on your Discord server. This page explains the basics that apply to every module.

Connect a server to the dashboard: sign in and choose a server
Connecting a server to the dashboard means: you invite Kage to your server and sign in with Discord. The server list then shows Your servers: all servers where you have Manage Server. If a server is missing, you do not have that permission there. Ask someone who has it to give you access.
- Manage opens the dashboard of that server.
- Invite bot appears for servers where Kage is not yet present. The invite link asks Discord for the permissions Kage needs (see Which permissions does Kage need?).
Inside the dashboard you switch servers via the server name at the top (Switch server). Every server has its own settings, plan and allowances.
Finding modules
The sidebar starts with the most important functions such as the dashboard and the Setup Assistant. Below, the modules are sorted into categories, with a search field to filter them. All modules shows every module at a glance, with plan hint and switch. Which module is in which plan is explained in Plans and subscription.
Which modules are active? Check active and available modules
Under All modules you see which modules are active on your server: every module shows its switch and, where needed, a plan hint. In the sidebar the option Only active modules hides all switched-off modules. Modules your plan does not include are locked and show the plan they need.
When settings or pages are missing
If you cannot see a setting or module, check in this order: Are you on the right server? Does the plan include the module (locked modules show a plan hint)? Was your dashboard access limited to certain modules? What counts is your access to the server (Manage Server or an invitation as dashboard admin) and the server's plan.
You do not have to set everything up
Kage is a toolkit. A module only does something once you turn it on and give the required details such as a channel or role. Start with two or three modules you really need. The Setup Assistant suggests suitable modules after a few questions.
Saving
Every module has its own settings: saving only changes that module and does not affect the others. Changes only apply once you click Save. Afterwards the confirmation "Saved." appears. If you leave the page before that, the changes are lost. If an error message appears instead, nothing was saved. Read it and try again after fixing the problem.
Turning modules off and on: is the configuration preserved?
The switch of a module turns it on or off. Turning it off does not delete your settings. Channels, roles and texts stay saved. If you turn the module on again later, it continues with the old details. Messages that were already sent and channels that were created stay in Discord. You delete them yourself if needed.
Dashboard and Discord commands
They complement each other:
- In the dashboard you set things up: channels, roles, texts, rules and switches.
- With commands in Discord (slash commands starting with
/) you use functions day to day, for example for moderation, polls or giveaways. You get an overview with/helpin Discord and in the dashboard under Help.
Not every module has commands, and not every setting exists as a command. If you want to configure something, look in the dashboard first.
Reporting a bug
Click Report bug (🐞) at the top of the dashboard. Briefly describe what happened, what you expected and how to reproduce it. For every confirmed bug your server receives Kage Points (see Kage Points). The support Discord also helps with questions, see Support.
