Auto Messages: Recurring Messages by Interval or Schedule
How Kage's auto messages regularly post texts in channels: interval or weekday with time, time zone, role mention, limits and troubleshooting.
Last checked for accuracy: 14 October 2026
Auto messages post a fixed text regularly in a channel, for example a notice "every 6 hours" or a reminder "every Monday at 18:00". If needed, you can have a role mentioned. You maintain everything in the dashboard.
For a short walkthrough, see the guide Scheduled messages.
Requirements
- Access to the module: You sign in to the dashboard with Discord and need the Manage Server permission (or access granted for this module).
- Kage's permissions in the channel: Send Messages. If a role is to be mentioned, it must be mentionable, or Kage needs the Mention @everyone, @here and All Roles permission.
- Plan: The plan notice at the top of this page shows which plan the module needs. If the plan lapses, Kage pauses the messages.
The two modes
Each entry has a channel, a text (up to 2,000 characters), optionally a role to mention, and a mode:
| Mode | Setting | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| Interval | every N minutes (15 to 43,200, default 360) | Kage sends as soon as that many minutes have passed since the last message. |
| Schedule | weekdays, time (HH:MM), time zone (default Europe/Berlin) | Kage sends on every chosen weekday at the time. |
Interval
A new entry is sent on the next check right away, because there is no previous message. After that, Kage waits for the interval since the last successful send. The interval counts from the actual send time, not from a fixed clock time.
Schedule
- Kage calculates in the entry's time zone (IANA name, for example
Europe/Berlin). If it is unknown, Kage uses Europe/Berlin. - The message goes out within a 5-minute window from the chosen time.
- Per entry and local day it is sent only once, even if Kage checks several times within the window.
How Kage works
- Kage checks every minute which entries are due.
- If the entry is switched off or the module is off, nothing happens.
- Kage posts the text in the channel. With a chosen role, its mention comes first, and only that role is pinged, no individuals and not @everyone.
- Only after a successful send does Kage note the time. If sending fails (for example due to missing permissions), it tries again on the next check.
- The send appears in the module's Logs tab.
Limits
- The number of entries depends on the plan: Premium up to 25, Enterprise up to 100. Existing entries above the limit are not trimmed; only further growth is blocked.
- The text is plain text with Discord markdown, no embeds. For designed messages, use the embed module.
- Each entry has only one message. For several texts, create several entries.
Settings at a glance
| Dashboard field | Meaning | Default |
|---|---|---|
| Auto Messages enabled | Turns the module on | off |
| Channel | The entry's target channel | – |
| Message text | Content, up to 2,000 characters | – |
| Mention | Optional role | none |
| Mode | Interval or schedule | Interval |
| Interval (minutes) | 15 to 43,200 | 360 |
| Weekdays, time, time zone | For the schedule | Europe/Berlin |
Checking the result
- Test entry: Create an entry in interval mode with 15 minutes and save.
- First message: It appears within about a minute.
- Check a schedule: Set a schedule entry a few minutes into the future and check that the message arrives within the window.
- Logs tab: The send is listed there.
Troubleshooting
No message arrives
Check that the module and the entry are active, that a channel is chosen, that Kage may write there and the plan applies. For schedules, the chosen time zone counts, and the weekday must be selected.
The message comes at the wrong time
Check the entry's time zone. A wrong or missing time zone leads to Europe/Berlin.
The message repeats too often
In interval mode, the interval is the gap between two messages. Increase the value. In schedule mode, it is sent only once per day.
The role is not pinged
The role is not mentionable, and Kage lacks Mention @everyone, @here and All Roles. The message itself is still sent.
No message arrived after a restart
Kage does not catch up on missed schedules: the 5-minute window has passed. Interval entries are sent on the next check once the interval has elapsed.
