Kage AI: Ask Questions and Use the Sources

How to use Kage AI: ask questions about Discord and Kage, check the answers against their sources, who gets AI answers, how the allowance per plan works and what Kage AI cannot do (yet).

Kage AI is the AI advisor on kage-bot.com. You describe what you want to achieve on your Discord server and get an answer with sources from the Kage guides and this wiki. You find it at Kage AI and as a floating "Kage AI" button in your dashboard. Searching the guides is open to everyone; written-out AI answers are available when you are signed in and have Kage on a server you manage.

How to ask a good question

  • Describe your goal, not just a keyword: "New members should automatically get a role" gets you to a result faster than "roles".
  • Say what you have already tried or which message you see.
  • Ask one question at a time. If Kage AI asks a follow-up question, just ask a new one with the extra information.
  • Do not enter passwords, keys or personal data.

The answer and its sources

Below every answer you see the pages it is based on. The numbers in the text ([1], [2]) point to that list. The server adds the links, not the AI, and they always lead to a real Kage page. Check important settings such as permissions, deletions or bans in the linked source before you apply them.

When there is no matching source

Kage AI does not guess. If the sources are not enough, it says so openly ("not enough information"), shows the closest pages and, when it helps, asks a follow-up question. Such questions help us see which guides are still missing.

Who gets AI answers, and how many?

AI answers are part of Kage: they count towards the allowance of the server Kage runs on. Everyone who manages that server shares the allowance. If you have several servers, the answer counts towards the one with the best plan that still has room; in the chat you can also pick a server. The allowance starts over every month.

PlanAI answers per month and serverof which with the stronger AIper person and day
Basic150030
Premium60010060
Enterprise1500200120

The stronger AI answers in more depth on difficult questions. Once that share is used up, the fast AI keeps answering until the monthly allowance is empty.

When the AI answer is not available

If you are not signed in, do not have Kage on any of your servers or the allowance is used up, the page shows the matching pages from the search instead and tells you why. The same happens when the AI is temporarily unreachable or the shared daily budget for all AI calls is reached. It continues as normal the next day or month. Search always works.

Privacy

Personal details such as email addresses, web addresses, Discord IDs and keys are removed from your question before it is processed. The cleaned question is stored without any identifier for 90 days so we can improve our content, and then deleted. You can rate an answer with 👍 or 👎. The answers are generated by an external AI service provider. All details are in the privacy policy.

What Kage AI cannot do

  • It changes nothing on your server and sees neither your server, messages nor members. You set things up in the dashboard or with the Setup Assistant.
  • It can be wrong. An answer is only as good as the linked sources.
  • It declines questions that have nothing to do with Discord servers or Kage.
