AI Setup: Plan Your Discord Server with AI
How Kage AI Discord Setup turns your description into a plan for roles, channels and modules, what applying and undoing do, which limits apply and how to fix problems.
Last checked for accuracy: 22 October 2026
Kage AI Discord Setup builds your server from a description in your own words. You tell it what the server is for, the AI drafts roles, categories, channels, permissions and module settings, and you see a preview that looks like Discord. Kage changes your server only after you explicitly confirm the plan. Everything it created can be removed again with one click.
The classic Setup Assistant works with fixed templates and rules. AI Setup adapts the plan to your description. A short walkthrough is in the guide Set up a Discord server with AI.
Requirements
- Manage Server permission: You use the feature with the full Manage Server permission. Someone who was only invited for single modules cannot use it.
- The server already exists. Kage cannot create a new Discord server. Create it yourself and invite the bot.
- Kage's permissions for applying: Manage Channels and Manage Roles. If they are missing, Kage tells you before applying and writes nothing.
- Plan: You can view a plan on any plan tier. Applying is included in Enterprise; in Basic and Premium it costs 5 euros per application. During Early Access, applying is free for everyone.
The steps
- Describe: In the dashboard open Kage AI Discord Setup (card under All modules or in the Setup Assistant). Describe the server in 20 to 2000 characters, or start from a template such as Gaming clan, Open community, Streamer, Study group or Project.
- Agree: Tick the box for the data transfer. It names what goes to the AI provider (see the Privacy section).
- Create the plan: The AI usually needs 30 to 90 seconds. You can leave the page open.
- Follow-up questions (rare): If the description is unclear, the AI asks at most three short questions, once. You do not have to answer all of them.
- Check the preview: You see categories and channels like in Discord, roles with colour and permissions, the modules to be switched on with their settings, the protection against spam bots, guides and a list of manual tasks.
- Revise (optional): For example write "Add a separate area for streamers". The AI returns a new plan.
- Apply: Kage checks the server once more, you confirm in the dialog, and Kage creates everything.
- Result: You see what was created, what did not work and what is still up to you.
What is in the plan
- Roles with name, colour and a profile (Standard, Member or Moderator) and optionally single permissions. Kage never grants the Administrator permission; you create a leadership role yourself.
- Categories and channels with visibility: public, read-only (everyone sees it, only certain roles write) or private (only certain roles see the area, shown by a lock).
- Modules with the settings the AI may set. Kage fills in references to new channels and roles automatically after creating them.
- Protection against spam bots and raids, if wanted: verification or auto role, minimum account age and decoy channels. The Protection Assistant sets this up.
- Design: Categories and channels get the chosen naming style, for example with symbols.
- Notes: What Kage changed or dropped from the AI's proposal is listed under "What Kage changed in the AI's proposal".
What the AI does not set up itself
Some things need your decision or a connected account. For these the preview shows a step-by-step guide with a link to the right dashboard page:
- forms, giveaways, server backup
- accounts for Social Alerts (adding creators)
- tracked links and the community board
Anything else you must do by hand appears in the list "You do this by hand", for example granting the leadership role or moving existing members over.
Applying
Before applying, Kage checks the plan against the current server. If something changed since planning, the dialog shows the new numbers and you confirm that separately. Roles with far-reaching permissions (can rebuild the server) require a second confirmation. If Kage lacks permissions, you see that beforehand and nothing is written.
Then Kage creates in order: roles, categories and channels including visibility, module settings, the ticket panel, the protection and the verification panel. Every step is logged individually. If one fails, the others continue. A module whose required channel is missing is not switched on but reported.
Also:
- Existing things are not deleted or overwritten. Categories, channels and roles with the same name are reused instead of created twice.
- Private and read-only areas get a permission for Kage itself so logs and panels arrive there.
- If Kage itself lacks some permissions a role should get, the role only receives the permissions Kage may grant.
- If the Kage role sits at the very bottom, Kage does not reorder the new roles and shows the note Move the Kage role up. Without that Kage cannot assign roles that sit above its own.
- Only one operation runs per server at a time.
Undoing
Undo deletes the channels, categories and roles created by this plan together with whatever members have written there in the meantime, removes the panel messages and restores module settings to their earlier state. Settings you have changed yourself since stay as they are. Things that are already deleted count as done. If not everything works you can try again. The dialog shows how much will be removed before anything is deleted.
An applied session can only be deleted after you undo it.
Limits
- At most 20 new roles, 12 categories and 60 channels per plan; Discord allows 500 channels and 250 roles in total.
- The AI only chooses modules and settings from the catalogue; settings that can only be changed in the dashboard stay with you.
- Modules your plan tier does not include are not used; they are shown as "needs a higher plan".
- A session allows six AI rounds in total (plan, answers, revisions).
- AI suggestions can contain mistakes. Check the plan before you confirm.
Allowance
Plans per server and month are included: Basic 1, Premium 2, Enterprise 15. A failed plan does not count. The page shows when the allowance restarts. There is also a daily budget for the whole feature.
Cost
Viewing, revising and checking a plan cost nothing, they run on the allowance. You only pay for the moment Kage creates the plan on your server:
- Enterprise: Applying is included.
- Basic and Premium: 5 euros per application. You pay in the apply dialog before you confirm. One payment covers exactly one application and is used up when it starts. If applying fails before anything was created, the payment stays available for the next attempt.
- Undoing is always free.
The classic Setup Assistant stays free on every plan.
Privacy
Before the AI plans, you agree explicitly. To the AI provider (currently Anthropic PBC, USA) go your description, answers and change requests, the server name, names and Discord identifiers of categories, channels and roles, and the enabled modules. Not sent are messages, members, the server ID and already stored settings of your modules. Kage first removes email addresses, web addresses, Discord IDs and keys automatically; it does not detect names, so do not enter third-party data. Kage deletes sessions after 90 days, applied sessions after 180 days. Everything else is in the privacy policy.
Settings overview
The feature has no settings of its own. Kage stores every session with plan and log so you can view, apply or undo it later. You delete a session in the list "Your previous plans". The fixed values at a glance:
| Value | Limit |
|---|---|
| Description | 20 to 2000 characters |
| Follow-up questions by the AI | at most 3, only once |
| AI rounds per session | 6 |
| New roles / categories / channels per plan | 20 / 12 / 60 |
| Plans per month | Basic 1, Premium 2, Enterprise 15 |
| Retention | 90 days, applied sessions 180 days |
Troubleshooting
"AI setup is not available right now"
The feature is switched off by the operator or the AI provider is not set up. Try again later.
The apply dialog says "Applying costs 5 €"
On Basic and Premium, applying is chargeable. Pay in the dialog and confirm afterwards. Without online payment the dialog sends a request; as soon as our team has confirmed the payment, applying unlocks. Enterprise needs no payment.
"The quota of plans for this month is used up"
All plans of the server for this month are used. The page shows when it restarts. A higher plan tier has a larger allowance.
"Planning took too long" or "The AI was not reachable"
The attempt does not count against your allowance. Start the plan again.
"Your server's structure could not be read"
Kage cannot reach the server. Check that the bot is on the server and may view the channels.
The apply dialog says "This is not possible right now"
Kage lacks Manage Channels or Manage Roles. Give the permission to the Kage role under Server Settings → Roles and open the dialog again.
"Your server has changed since the plan was made"
For example something was already created by hand. The numbers in the dialog are current. Tick the box if you want to continue anyway.
New roles are not assigned
The Kage role sits below the new roles. Drag it up under Server Settings → Roles (see role order). The Troubleshooting feature finds such cases.
A module was not switched on
It lacked a channel or role, or it belongs to a higher plan tier. The result names the reason. Set up what is missing in the module and switch it on yourself.
I want everything back
Open the session and choose Undo everything.
