Plans, Trial and Subscription: How Unlocking Works

Kage unlocks modules according to your plan. This article explains how unlocking works: plans, trial, subscription, discount codes, cancellation and the separate AI add-on product. Current prices and the assignment of modules are always in the dashboard under Subscription and Plan comparison as well as on the Pricing page. They change, so this article names no fixed amounts.

The plans

There are three plans that build on each other: Basic, Premium and Enterprise. Each higher plan contains everything from the one below. The Plan comparison shows as a table which module belongs to which plan. It reads the assignment live, so it is always current.

• Every server starts with Basic.
• The plan belongs to the server, not to a person.
• Some modules have limits that grow with the plan, for example the number of forms or creators per platform. Each module article names these limits.
• Individual features are add-on products of their own, such as the AI features.

In the module articles of this wiki, the plan notice at the top of the page shows the plan of the respective module.

Trial

For Premium there is a free trial (currently 7 days). You start it in the dashboard under Subscription.

• It applies once per server and once per person: whoever already tested on another server cannot test again on a second one.
• During the trial the Premium modules are unlocked, Enterprise is not.
• Before it ends, Kage can remind you by direct message. You switch this reminder on or off in the subscription settings.
• After the trial the server falls back to Basic, unless you take out a subscription.

Taking out a subscription

1. In the dashboard, open Subscription and choose a plan.
2. Optionally enter a discount code. The preview shows the new price before you confirm.
3. Confirm. Kage takes you to the payment provider's payment page.
4. After payment, Kage unlocks the plan automatically. If no online payment provider is set up, Kage records your request and unlocks it manually. Until then nothing is charged.

Only a member with the full Manage Server permission may cancel and resume.

Cancelling and resuming

You cancel in the dashboard yourself:

• The cancellation applies at the end of the paid period. Until then everything stays unlocked.
• Afterwards the server falls back to Basic.
• As long as the paid period is still running, you can withdraw the cancellation. After that you need a new subscription.
• Before the end, Kage reminds you by direct message if you want.

What happens on expiry

If a subscription or the trial expires, the modules it unlocked fall back to "locked":

• Nothing is deleted. All settings stay saved.
• Commands and buttons of a locked module only reply with a notice, automatic features rest.
• If you take out the plan again later, the modules run again immediately without you having to set anything up again.
• The Monitoring module reports paused modules with the notice "renew the subscription".

As long as Kage is in early access, all modules are unlocked. In that case you notice nothing of an expiry.

Add-on products

You book add-on products such as the AI features independently of the plan. They have a purchase of their own under Subscription and run separately.

Checking the result

1. Comparison: Open the plan comparison. Each module shows from which plan it is included.
2. Unlocking: Open a module of your plan. It can be switched on, while a module of a higher plan shows a notice.

Troubleshooting

"A trial has already been used for this server"

Each server and each person has only one trial.

"You have already started a trial on another server"

The trial is tied to your person. Another member with management rights can start it for another server if they have not had one themselves.

A module is locked

It belongs to a higher plan or to an add-on product. The notice in the module names what is missing.

After payment nothing is unlocked yet

Unlocking can take a few seconds. Reload the page. If payment runs without an online payment provider, the Kage team unlocks manually.

I cannot cancel

Only a member with the full Manage Server permission may do so, and only for a paid, running subscription.
