Community Board: Lasting Posts You Edit Later
How Kage's community board works: write posts in the dashboard, post them as a fixed Discord message, edit the same message later, pin it or delete it.
Last checked for accuracy: 14 October 2026
The Community Board is for lasting content that should stay current and easy to find: a summary of your server rules, a roadmap or patch notes. You write the text in the dashboard, and Kage posts it as a fixed message in a channel. If you change the post later, Kage edits the same message instead of posting a new one.
For a one-off message, use Announcements instead.
Requirements
- Access to the module: You sign in to the dashboard with Discord and need the Manage Server permission (or access granted for this module).
- Kage's permissions in the target channel: View Channel, Send Messages and Embed Links. For pinning, Kage additionally needs the permission for it (Manage Messages).
- Plan: The plan notice at the top of this page shows which plan the module needs.
Publishing a post
- In the dashboard, open Community Board and click New post.
- Choose the channel.
- Enter Title and Text. Both are required.
- Optional: turn on Pin in Discord.
- Click Publish.
Kage posts the post as a card with title and text. The entry appears under Existing posts, with an Open in Discord link.
Editing a post
Change title, text, channel or the pin setting and save:
- Same channel: Kage edits the existing message. The link and reactions are kept.
- Another channel: Kage deletes the old message and posts it anew in the new channel.
- Message no longer reachable: If someone deleted the message in Discord, Kage posts the post anew instead of failing.
- Pinning: Kage pins or unpins the message depending on the setting. If that fails, for example for lack of permission or because the channel already has the maximum number of pinned messages, the post stays published anyway.
Deleting a post
Delete removes the entry and tries to delete the Discord message as well. If that does not work, for example because it is already gone, the entry is removed anyway.
Limits
| Limit | Value |
|---|---|
| Title | up to 256 characters (Discord's limit) |
| Text | up to 4096 characters (Discord's limit) |
| Format | a card with a blue edge. Plain texts or custom colours do not exist here. |

Settings at a glance
| Dashboard field | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Channel | Where the post sits |
| Title, Text | Content of the card |
| Pin in Discord | Pins the message in the channel |
Publishing, editing and deleting appear in the module's Logs tab.
Checking the result
- Publish: Post a post to a test channel.
- Edit: Change the text and save. In the channel the same message changes, no new one appears.
- Delete: Delete the post in the dashboard. The message disappears from Discord.
Troubleshooting
"The selected channel does not exist (anymore)"
Choose another channel.
"Title and text are required"
Both fields must be filled in.
The post is not pinned
Kage lacks the permission for it, or the channel already has the maximum number of pinned messages.
Posting fails
Kage may not write in the channel, or the text is too long. Check permissions and length.
I deleted the message in Discord by hand
Save the post in the dashboard again. Kage posts it anew.
