Analytics: Activity, Growth and Community Health

What Kage's analytics show: activity trend, member growth, leaderboard, period comparison, CSV export and the community health score with its formulas and data sources.

Last checked for accuracy: 14 October 2026

The analytics show in the dashboard how active your server is and where it is heading: messages per day, joins and leaves, active members, the most active members, a comparison with the previous month and a community health score from 0 to 100. Kage evaluates data it already records anyway. There is no additional monitoring of individual members.

For a short walkthrough, see the guide Reading server analytics.

Requirements

  • Access: You sign in to the dashboard with Discord and need access to the server.
  • Plan: The plan notice at the top of this page shows which plan the analytics need.
  • Data takes time: Kage collects from the moment it is on the server. There is no retroactive data. If a chart shows "Not enough data yet", Kage is still collecting.

Where the numbers come from

MetricSource
MessagesKage counts messages from members (not from bots) per member. Hourly it stores the total. The messages per day result from the difference between two days.
Member counthourly figure from Discord
Joins, leavesfrom the invite recording (see below)
Active membersmembers who wrote at least one message in the last 7 days
Voice activitynumber of voice XP awards on that day (not minutes)
Most active membersthe 10 members with the most XP
Warningsthe stored moderation actions

Important:

  • Kage counts joins and leaves through the invite recording, even if the Invite tracking module is switched off. For this, Kage must be allowed to query the server's invites (Manage Server permission). Without it, joins are missing and the numbers stay at 0. Right after a restart of Kage a join can be missing while Kage is still building up the invite state.
  • Voice activity and the leaderboard only exist if the Rank and XP system is running: voice activity needs voice XP, the leaderboard needs members with XP above 0.
  • The data for today is updated hourly (UTC), so numbers can lag behind real time by up to an hour.

The areas of the page

Key figures: total messages, members, warnings of the last 7 days and the number of active modules.

Community Health: the score with a grade and five factors (see below).

Activity trend: messages per day over the last 30 days.

Member growth: joins and leaves per day over the last 30 days, plus net (7 days), joins and leaves (30 days), average messages per day (7 days), active members and voice (7 days).

Period comparison: the current 30 days against the 30 days before: messages, joins, leaves, voice activity and average active members, each with the percentage change. If the comparison value is 0, Kage shows no percentage because it would say nothing.

Raw data: Export CSV downloads the daily values of the last 30 days as a file with the columns date, message_count, member_count, join_count, leave_count, active_member_count, voice_activity. Note: message_count is the running total on that day, not the increase.

Most active members: the top 10 by XP with level, message count and highest role. Members who left the server appear without a name.

Moderation: the number of warnings in total and the latest five.

The community health score

The score is a weighted sum of five factors, each from 0 to 100. This is how Kage calculates:

FactorWeightCalculation
Growth25 %Net change in member count over 30 days relative to the member count. 0 % gives 50 points, +10 % gives 100, −10 % gives 0.
Activity30 %Share of members who wrote within 7 days. 25 % active gives 100 points.
Retention25 %Of the members who joined 8 to 38 days ago, the share still there. Without data it is 60 points.
Voice10 %Voice XP awards within 7 days relative to the member count. 0.5 per member gives 100 points.
Moderation10 %Warnings within 7 days per 100 members. Each warning per 100 members subtracts 20 points, from 5 on it is 0.

The grade depends on the total:

ScoreGrade
85 to 100Excellent
70 to 84Good
50 to 69Solid
30 to 49Needs work
below 30Critical

Each factor shows a plain-language explanation, for example "12 active members in 7 days (8 %)". The score is a guide, not a verdict: small servers fluctuate strongly, and a server without a voice channel necessarily loses points there.

The Kage Control Center, the desktop app, additionally calculates a score with seven factors (including support and security situation). More in the article Kage Control Center.

Settings at a glance

The analytics have no settings of their own. They read existing data and switch nothing on.

Checking the result

  1. Open the page: In the dashboard, open Analytics. The key figures appear immediately, even on new servers.
  2. Trend: After a few days the activity and growth charts fill up.
  3. Export: Click Export CSV and check the columns.

Troubleshooting

"Not enough data yet"

Kage has only just started collecting. Wait a few days so that daily values and comparison make sense.

Joins and leaves stay at 0

Kage needs the Manage Server permission to query invites. Also check whether members have actually joined since Kage has been running.

Voice is always 0

There are no voice XP awards. Check in the Rank and XP system whether voice XP is on.

The leaderboard is empty

Nobody has XP yet. Turn on the Rank and XP system.

The trend shows fewer messages than I expected

Kage only counts messages from members, not from bots, and only since it started on the server.
